1950 Custom EARLY South Gate Weatherby M98 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle .270 WBY Magnum
Manufactured in 1950, a beautiful early American made three digit Weatherby. Features a 26" blued round sightless tapered barrel with high polish, stamped "BOLE'S 270 WBY MAG." Receiver is a high polished blue stamped on the left "Weatherby South Gate, Calif" with the 3 digit serial number on the opposite side. Drilled and tapped for optics. Machine jeweled bolt and bolt release and knurled stainless bolt knob. Stock is a 2X high gloss walnut with rosewood forearm tip and pistol cap. Pistol grip cap has a white diamond inlay. Pistol grip and forearm are hand checkered in a scroll design. Both sides of the receiver feature a diamond bi-wood inlay consisting of rosewood and birch. butt stock is fitted with a factory "Weatherby's Tomorrows Rifle Today" ventilated recoil pad. CONDITION
Retains 90% original finish with some light wear around the receiver and a few small blemishes on the barrel. Stock shows a small 1/4" ding on the bottom center of the butt stock and on the front edge of the pistol grip, a light 1" scratch on the right side of the stock. Light frost on the bore with vibrant rifling and great mechanics.
