Manufactured by Winchester Custom shop in 1954 and custom built for Hollywood actor Robert Montgomery. Famous for movies such as "They Were Expendable". Robert was also the president of the Screen Actors Guild, an avid hunter and shooter with his pal Clark Gable, and was the father of Elizabeth Montgomery known for her role as Samantha Stephens on the TV series "Bewitched". This custom Winchester was ordered with 26" Winchester proof steel barrels in 20 gauge with 2-3/4" chambers, Modified and Improved Cylinder chokes, ejectors, nickel mid-bead and ivory bead front sight. Rib is stamped "Custom Built for Robert Montgomery". Blued flat side frame with jeweled water table, blued single selective trigger and automatic safety. Action has floral 21-1 engraving. Select custom carved walnut pistol grip stock with vertical "Winchester" logo hard rubber butt plate and steel grip cap. Stock is fitted with factory done oval name plate with anchor in one hand and human head in other with the Montgomery family motto "Garde Bien", which means "guard well". Matching walnut checkered splinter forearm with ebony inlay, jeweled iron and engraved blued roller latch. Comes in an Abercrombie and Fitch style tan leather fitted case with Orvis marked oil bottle and snap-caps. Cody research letter confirms all options. LOP: 14-1/4". DAC: 1-5/8". DAH: 3". CONDITION
Retains 95% original finish with light case wear on the muzzles and light usage scratches. 95% original finish on the action with wear on the high edges. Wood retains 95% finish with light field dings. Checkering still sharp. Excellent bores and mechanics. Case in good condition with repairs needed on strap and lining. Great Hollywood history to an excellent shotgun!
