Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 5779a. Bbl. 23 5/8". All visible numbers except upper band match. Markings are enhanced w/ white. Receiver marked on left rail w/ "Mod.98". Receiver ring marked on top w/ "42" indicating mfg. by Mauser/Obendorf. Dated 1939. Receiver ring has 3 Waffenamt 63 on right side. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Inverted "V" front sight. Cleaning rod & bayonet bar are present. All milled furniture except cup type buttplate. Laminated stock set w/ steel takedown hole. Original leather sling. CONDITION: entire rifle has been given arsenal rework type finish w/ attractive appearance. Solid walnut replacement wood between bbl. bands due to "duffle cut stock". Metal has restored finish over extensive shallow pitting which is notable on bolt rear sight, front sight & trigger guard. Fair bore w/ worn lands. (21-1007/RW). CURIO. $700-900.
