Super RARELY seen 2-Digit Serial number Colt 1911 was manufactured in 1912. Colt Archive letter is included and provides the following information: Shipped to Philip McDonald on November 22, 1912. Left side of the frame is stamped with the serial number "C56" as only the very early models were stamped here. Left side of the slide is stamped "PATENTED APR.20 1897 SEPT, 9 1902 DEC, 19 1905 FEB, 14 1911" "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG CO. HARTFORD, CT U.S.A.". Inspection stamp by Major Gilbert H Stewart. Right side of the slide is stamped "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE 45" with "GOVERNMENT MODEL" stamped on the frame below. Appears to be all original and features period correct iron sights, trigger, lanyard loop and diamond checkered walnut grip panels. Also includes the period correct 8 round magazine with keyhole loop. Very Rare Opportunity for Colt and 1911 collectors! CALIBER: 45 ACP. S/N: C56. FFL STATUS: Curio & Relic.
CONDITION
Retains 60% original blue finish with wear on the grip straps, bottom of frame and on slide. Grips show wear on the edges and checkered points. Nice bore and mechanics.
