RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 6492o. Bbl. 23 3/4". Import marked on right side of bbl. Receiver marked on left rail w/ gothic "MOD. 98". Receiver ring has German Eagle proof on left side. Receiver marked on top w/ German eagle "ce / 44 ". Right side of receiver has 2 partially legible waffenamts: "280" & "37?" Bbl. marked over chamber waffenamt "37". Marked on left side w/ poorly stamped "X" indicating Russian capture. Numbers match on receiver, bbl., & buttstock & bolt (by electro pencil). Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000m. Inverted V front sight side. Stamped solid upper band. retained by screw. Rifle mfg. w/out bayonet lug. Forend tip has plate cap retained by screw. Stamped lower band. Stamped trigger guard w/ milled floorplate. Cup type buttplate. Steel takedown hole. Laminated stock w/ walnut handguard, is unmarked except for S# & "4" in sling slot. CONDITION: stock has arsenal rework type finish w/ moderate wear, scratches & handling marks. Metal has 70% arsenal rework finish w/ mix of shades, light wear & handling marks. Trigger guard lock screws are not present. Fair bore w/ worn lands. (21-1336/RW). CURIO. $600-900.
